The job in full
Tintern Grammar VCE Centre is a $10M–$15M education project at Ringwood East in Victoria. The scope is a new three-storey VCE Centre plus refurbishment of the existing Senior College, inside a campus that keeps operating throughout. Costimate provided full estimating support.
The client is Tintern Grammar, the project manager is Fontic Group, the architect is McIldowie Partners and the builder is Newpol.
The new building carries an auditorium, learning and breakout spaces, and quiet study zones. Those are three different acoustic and services problems in one envelope, and each of them lands in the bill as a different set of items.
Refurbishment is the harder half. New work can be measured off the drawings. Existing work has to be measured off the drawings and then checked against what is actually there, because the difference between the two is where a refurbishment budget goes.
